Description: Students often find it difficult to understand certain subjects. Here are a few tips that make it easy.
Every student can learn, but not in the same way and the same day!
As a leading college of management in Hyderabad, we at Shloka College of Management have over the time encountered some students who find it difficult to understand certain concepts and subjects. After we had tried a few methods, we had stumbled upon a method that is by far the best for those students.
Being a top BBA college in Hyderabad, we believe that every student has some hidden talent and it is only for the teachers to discover it and let it shine. Some students can understand with visual examples, some understand it when they experience it, and some of them have the gift of understanding it right from the beginning.
This does not mean that the rest of the students are incapable. It only means that they have to be taught in a different way. Learning is defined as an activity that results in gaining a mental or physical grasp of a subject. It is the ability to interpret a concept in one’s own words and the ability to do something with the new knowledge.
When we consider one’s inability to learn a subject or a concept, it can be due to the inability to process the information, inability to understand the expression of the language, or that one does not have proper memory. However, one should consider that this is not the problem of intelligence or motivation.
At the same time, these students might not be suffering from some kind of learning disability. Also, these students are not lazy and disinterested. In fact, most of us at some stage or the other had difficulties while learning a new skill. How many of us did not have a problem with mathematics or biology?
Keeping this in mind, our teachers have over the years analyzed why certain students do not understand certain subjects properly. After a few trials, we had come with a method that would resolve this issue to a large extent.
In management courses, there are generally numerous subjects and one has to master all these subjects in order to pass the course. This demands a lot of comprehension and memory. For this, we had come up with a system called Learning by Connections.
Learning by connections is not only fast, but it is also a much better way. Learning by connections actually makes the student to have a structured thought process and one would be able to tell what follows and precedes a particular thing.
These connections even extend to ideas. By connecting ideas a student gains a self learning process. In the self learning process, there is confusion first. Things would look murky. Then, by slowly connecting the ideas and facts, one would get first insights. Here, the mind clicks and the connections are firm now. With the reinforcement of connections, there are further insights. With insights one can join the dots of connections and get a much better understanding.
Apart from this method, we have come up with certain tips that would indeed help in understanding a subject much better.
- Get maximum information on the subject.
- Memorize only the important things.
- Talk to fellow students about the subject.
- Watch educational videos.
- Find a mentor in your friends.
- Take a few quizzes on the subject.
- Understand the way you learn.
- Spend more time on the fundamentals.
- Be confident.
